# Assam

> Assam’s Aadhaar administration is organised through the General Administration Department and district authorities, but the state’s historical centre table should not be mistaken for a live appointment directory.

## Who runs the state-side system

The General Administration Department says it was appointed Aadhaar registrar for Assam, with Deputy Commissioners acting as enrolment agencies and Additional Deputy Commissioners as nodal officers. That administrative chain matters when a district camp, operator or local centre needs confirmation.

## Why the old table needs a warning label

The same page records the statewide rollout from 6 October 2018 and includes district information from that programme. It is useful history, not proof that every listed room, officer or schedule is active in 2026. For a current visit, search through UIDAI and verify with the DC office named for the district.

## Separate Aadhaar from ration authentication

Assam’s AePDS portal reports food-distribution authentication activity. A failed ration transaction can arise in the PDS record, connectivity, beneficiary mapping or authentication step. First obtain the FPS error and use the food-supplies grievance path. Change Aadhaar data only when the Aadhaar record itself is inaccurate or UIDAI directs an update.

Escalation order: centre operator for the acknowledgement → district Aadhaar nodal administration for local operations → UIDAI 1947 for the Aadhaar request itself. Keep the EID or update request number at every stage.
