> Gujarat has a distinctive child-focused Aadhaar channel through Women & Child Development: selected Anganwadi infrastructure is used for early-age enrolment and mandatory biometric work.

## Why an Anganwadi may be the right first call

Gujarat’s Women & Child Development Department says it has acted as an Aadhaar registrar since 2016 and deployed block-level kits and operators. Its published initiative focuses on children aged 0–5 and adolescent girls, with enrolment or mandatory biometric activity through Anganwadis.

## Check the child’s age and transaction

### Under five

Ask whether the local Anganwadi is currently scheduling child enrolment and which parent/guardian and birth documents are required under UIDAI’s current list.

### After age five

The first mandatory biometric update needs fingerprints, iris and photograph. Confirm that the scheduled kit supports the full transaction.

### General adult work

Do not assume the child-focused WCD channel handles every adult update; use the UIDAI locator for another authorised station.

## Treat the state page as a channel description

The WCD initiative page establishes who the programme is designed to reach. It is not a live appointment calendar. Parents should confirm the date locally and then use UIDAI’s current document schedule, especially where a child’s birth date or relationship evidence is involved.

The WCD initiative page is protected by a security check, so this readable government Gazette page is used as evidence. It supports the child enrolment and exception route—not live Anganwadi availability.

- 1 Dated Gazette evidence This is a 3 June 2024 Gujarat Government Gazette page, not a current centre schedule.
- 2 Child enrolment route The notification covers children who do not yet possess Aadhaar.
- 3 Access obligation The implementing agency must arrange enrolment access where no centre exists in the block or taluka.
