# Updates & Corrections

> How to update or correct Aadhaar details - online via myAadhaar or in person, URN tracking, and lifetime limits on name, gender and date of birth.

## Choose the correct channel

Channel | What current UIDAI material supports | Important condition |

myAadhaar portal | Address update and PoI/PoA document update | A registered mobile number is needed for OTP-based online services. |
Aadhaar App | Mobile-number update and address update | Uses app registration, OTP and Face Authentication. Availability can depend on the scenario. |
Enrolment/update centre | Name, gender, date of birth, address, mobile, email, photograph, fingerprints and iris | Documents are required where the changed field needs documentary evidence. |

## Email update in the Aadhaar App

UIDAI launched email-address update through the Aadhaar App on 1 July 2026 and has waived the fee through 31 December 2026 .

UIDAI’s older app FAQ has not yet caught up and still says email update is unavailable. Use the current app flow; if the option is not shown for your account or device, use an authorised centre.

## Lifetime limits

- Name: twice in a lifetime.
- Gender: once in a lifetime.
- Date of birth: once in a lifetime.
An exception-handling process may apply beyond these limits. Submission never guarantees acceptance; UIDAI validates each request.

## Track and escalate

Keep the acknowledgement/URN or SRN and use myAadhaar to check status. If a request is delayed or rejected, open [UIDAI’s homepage](https://uidai.gov.in/en) → Contact & Support → Grievance Redressal Mechanism , or call 1947. Self-service IVRS is 24×7; executive assistance follows published hours.
