FIELD GUIDE · STATE / UNION TERRITORY

Bihar

Bihar’s RTPS portal makes an unusually important distinction: proving identity for a state service is not the same transaction as enrolling for, or correcting, Aadhaar.

The RTPS choice many guides omit

ServicePlus Bihar says Aadhaar name matching and OTP authentication may be optional or mandatory depending on the service. Where Aadhaar authentication is not completed, the portal describes an upload route using one of twelve Election Commission-approved identity documents. That is a service-specific alternative, not a universal rule for every Bihar scheme.

Diagnose before you edit identity data

Name mismatch

Compare the spelling on Aadhaar with the RTPS application and the certificate being requested. Correct the record that is actually wrong.

OTP not arriving

Check whether the service is sending an Aadhaar OTP or its own portal OTP. A mobile number entered in RTPS does not update the number held by UIDAI.

No Aadhaar route

Use it only when the selected service displays that option and follow its listed identity-document rules.

Two official systems, two responsibilities

The Bihar Aadhaar Authentication Framework supports departments using Aadhaar authentication; ServicePlus receives citizen applications. Neither portal should be presented as an Aadhaar correction website. Enrolment and UIDAI-record changes remain with UIDAI-authorised channels.
