Meghalaya places Aadhaar administration close to the district: the General Administration Department is registrar, Deputy Commissioners are enrolment agencies, and current notices publish block-level centres.
The DC-and-block model
The General Administration Department states that it is the nodal department and registrar for Aadhaar, with Deputy Commissioners acting as enrolment agencies. An August 2026 East Khasi Hills announcement lists centres at the DC office, hospital and C&RD block offices—current evidence of that distributed model in one district.
Use the current district notice, not a statewide assumption
The East Khasi Hills list cannot be copied onto West Garo Hills or another district. Residents should open their district or Meghalaya announcements page and confirm the local office. Special camps are time-bound, and a BDO building may host Aadhaar only on scheduled days.
Benefits while enrolment is pending
Meghalaya notifications for specific programmes describe an EID plus alternate identity evidence and local coordination where a block lacks a centre. Those clauses protect access under the named scheme; they do not change UIDAI’s supporting-document schedule. Ask the benefit office for its exception, and use UIDAI for the enrolment itself.
What the government page actually shows
The 3 August 2026 announcement supports the district-and-block delivery example. Its locations should not be extrapolated to every Meghalaya district.
