Sikkim

Sikkim added a UIDAI-run Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Gangtok in May 2026, while a 2025 centre in Dzongu illustrates why local facilities matter beyond the capital.

The Gangtok ASK

Sikkim IPR reports that the centre at Tadong Bazar opened on 21 May 2026, can handle up to 250 requests daily and supports enrolment plus demographic, mobile/email and biometric updates. It operates seven days except public holidays and accepts official appointment bookings.

Access beyond Gangtok

An April 2026 Government of Sikkim report from Lower Dzongu describes Aadhaar enrolment and corrections being delivered through an “Administration at the Doorstep” programme in remote Lum village. That dated camp is evidence of terrain-driven outreach, not a standing timetable. Confirm the next local facility or camp before travel.

Aadhaar is not proof of Sikkim status

A state Gazette order explicitly says Aadhaar does not by itself prove citizenship or domicile and requires separate Sikkim documents for specified local-address and administrative purposes. That distinction is crucial: an Aadhaar address can support identity, but it does not create Sikkim Subject or Certificate of Identification entitlement.
